VI. Charging operation
Step 1, Examine and make sure rated voltage of battery is conforming to output voltage of charger.
Step 2, Connect correctly the charger and the battery.
Step 3, Examine and make sure mains supply voltage is conforming to input voltage of the charger.
Step 4, Connect mains supply and the battery, watch to see if the indicator is on and the cooling fan is working when charging.
Step 5, if the charger refuse to work, turn off mains supply immediately and check all the connecting cables between mains supply, the battery and the charger.
User Manual
I. Summary
WL-series switching power supply pulse quick chargers are designed and manufactured by our company based on single-voltage battery packs of 12V, 24V, 36V, 48V, 60V, 62V, 72V and 84V.
Intelligent computer chips are adopted for whole process control with advanced technologies of pulse width modulation (PWM).This series of products feature small size, safety and flexibility, high conversion rate, stable output current, large designed volume, long-time duration, etc.
Short circuit protection, reverse connection protection, overheat protection as well as low voltage protection is available. Therefore, constant voltage and constant current can be transformed reliably from constant voltage status into floating charge status. Hence, power waste and water loss can be reduced during charging process, and battery overheating and bubbling can be eliminated. As a result, battery life is extended greatly!
II. Technical parameters
Model: WL-12-50 WL-24-30
Rated input voltage: AC150V-250V
Rated working frequency: 50-60HZ
Full conversion rate: 93%±3%
Working temperature range: -30℃ TO +35℃
III. Working modes
Constant current mode: when battery voltage is lower than charger preset voltage, the working mode is constant current charging mode, where constant charging current is provided by the charger to battery. In this mode, both battery and charger are under good protection.
Constant voltage mode: Adoption of pulse width modulation (PWM) can have precise control of charging current and output voltage so that the battery can be fully charged while at the same time not over-charged.
Trickle mode: When battery voltage decreases to preset value, charging current will decrease gradually to preset value, and the charger will go into trickle floating charging mode from either constant current mode or constant voltage mode. Even if charging is completed, battery can still be set in floating charging mode.
IV. Multiple protections
Overheat protection: The charger will close automatically without current output for protective purpose when its temperature is over 105℃, and when the temperature is decreased below about 80℃ or power supply is shut down for 10 minutes, charging process can be resumed.
Short circuit protection: In case of accidental short circuit, the charger will close automatically without current output, and beep for alarming. Once correctly connected, charging process will be resumed.
Reverse connection protection: Whenever positive poles and negative poles of the charger and the battery are not connected correctly, the charger will close automatically without current output, and beep for alarming. Once correctly connected, charging process will be resumed.
Low voltage protection: When single cell voltage is below 1.5V, the charger can not be started up, and beep for alarming. This mechanism is to avoid possible damages caused up by voltage discrepancy between the battery and the charger.
V. Warnings
① Dangerous high voltage is contained inside the charger, so please contact your local dealer or the manufacturer in case of equipment failure.
② Do not use under humidity or high temperature, or where there are flammables or explosives.
③ Do not block cooling hole, or use the charger while cooling fan is stopped.
④ Do prevent rain or water entry into the machine to avoid damages.
⑤ Non-professional technicians are strictly prohibited to open the machine or change its purpose. Otherwise, severe injury may be caused.
VII. Warm Notice
For the purpose of a longer service life, avoid charging your battery after it is completely consumed. And, it is always good to charge and discharge this lead-acid battery frequently. If a 12V battery is consumed up (below 10V), firstly the battery will be damaged greatly, and secondly the charger will also be protected due to over-current. This indicates that your battery is below 10V, which is a severe power insufficiency. Do pay attention next time when you using the battery!
After only a few minutes or even shorter time, the battery indicates fully charged. |
1. Examine to see if there is overcurrent protection, overheat protection or low voltage protection resulted out of non-conforming voltage, and also examine if cooling fan is working. 2. Maybe the battery is consumed up or already fully charged (better test again after discharging or take other battery for testing purpose). 3. Add battery tune-up treatment or distilled water. 4. Examine and make sure output clips from charger is well connected to battery poles. |
Battery shell is heating when charging or the battery can’t be fully charged after a long time’s charging. |
1. Check to see if there is short circuit in battery, which shall result in failure of charging voltage reaching the charger’s preset voltage. 2. There is a leakage 0.3A≥ in battery. 3. Defective materials or workmanship is used in battery production. Genuine batteries are strongly recommended. 4. Replace battery and test again. |
The charger beeps for alarming or refuses to work though all cables are correctly connected. |
1. Examine the battery to see if there is low voltage protection due to badly power insufficiency (non-conforming voltage). 2. Termination of service life due to long-time stalledness or short circuit due to large internal resistance. 3. Check to see if the battery still beeps for alarming when connected only to mains supply unloaded. 4. Replace battery and test again. |
For vehicle batteries, motorcycle batteries (small volume) which have been laid unused for a long time, the charging indicator may not go ON when charging (due to small current requirement resulted out of large internal resistance). In this situation, you can charge at the same time of huge power discharging (consumption).By this means you can judge if the charger is defective, and at the time the charging indicator will flash.(Normally, you can continue to floating charge for approximately 1 hour after the charging indicator turns Off until the fully charged. At this time, the battery is in excellent condition, you can use freely) (Though the indicator does not flash, the charger is in fact charging the battery in trickle floating mode. And, once large current need from the battery is detected by the charger, the indicator will go flashing).
SPECIAL NOTICE:
1. Charging batteries of leakage for the first time shall be under manual monitoring. To avoid overcharging and bubbling, for the 1st and 2nd time, charging shall be stopped immediately once temperature rise is found of the battery. Temperature rise indicates that the battery is full before being charged or there is leakage which does not influence its usage.
2. When the charger is charging the battery, the cooling fan shall be working regularly.
3. An adjustable charger can adjust current size in accordance with battery needs for a better battery protection. For example, if the current is 30A before charging, you are advised to decrease to 25A. Similarly, if 25A, you are advised to decrease to 20A. The 20% spacing shall better protect your battery as well as your charger.
If the battery is not needed urgently, you are advised to charge by 1/10, i.e. 10AH battery to 1A charging current.
